I was speaking to my Mom today and she was talking about her reaction to my niece purchasing a hundred dollar app on her phone. She was calm and understanding when she figured out from where the charge came. She then went on to say "I would've reacted differently back when you were that age". I would have to agree, but things were different when I was a child. I could tell she had feelings of guilt with this statement, but often parents are struggling just to make ends meet and a hundred dollar charge to a credit or debit card would have been the difference between eating and working for the next few weeks.
I remember feeling loved unconditionally. I never questioned my safety. Those are the things that mattered.
