Healthy Living
The Healthy Living program utilizes the evidence-based Eating Smart, Being Active curriculum to teach families about eating healthy foods and incorporating activity into their lives. The curriculum is provided through 8 "lessons" and delivered through Ongoing Visits. Small incentives (measuring cups, vegetable brushes, meat thermometers, etc.) are utilized to help families learn about the food pyramid and foods packed with nutrition. They will be encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables. Families will also learn how to choose and cook with foods that are lower in fat, sugar, and salt. These visits will incorporate the importance of being active, with the goal of spending less time in front of the TV and more time outdoors.
One of the key components is to include more fruits and vegetables in our diets.
The Healthy Living program is funded through The Colorado Health Foundation.
