The Healthy Living program utilizes the evidence-based Eating Smart, Being Active curriculum to teach families about eating healthy foods and incorporating activity both indoors and outdoors.  The curriculum is provided through 8 "lessons" and delivered through Ongoing Visits.  Families will receive lesson plans on how to prepare food safely and properly (including measuring cups, vegetable brushes, meat thermometers, etc.)  These tools are utilized to help families learn about the "My Plate" and foods packed with nutrition.  Families are encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables and become more active.  Families will also learn how to choose and cook with foods that are lower in fat, sugar, and salt.  These visits will incorporate the importance of being active, with the goal of spending less time sedentary and more time being active both indoor and outdoors.

There are 8 lessons of Eating Smart, Being Active:

            1.  Get Moving!

            2.  Plan, Shop $ave

            3.  Vary Your Veggies...Focus on Fruit

            4.  Make Half Your Grains Whole

            5.  Build Strong Bones

            6.  Go Lean with Protein

            7.  Make a Change

            8.  Celebrate!  Eat Smart & Be Active
