Ongoing Home Visitation

One of the components of Baby Bear Hugs is the universal, voluntary home visitation through a trained home visitor.  These ongoing visits link expectant mothers and families with children ages 0 - 3 to a trained home visitor offering visits on a scheduled basis that works for the family.  These are offered free of charge, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.  The visitor offers support through the development of a friendly, trusting relationship, parenting education, and connection to community resources.  Although the programmatic intent is to identify and visit mothers at the prenatal stage, those not participating prenatally can still participate in the Baby Bear Hugs program.

The most recent component to be added to the ongoing visits is the Nurturing Parenting program.  Trained visitors can incorporate the Nurturing Parenting curriculum into the home visits for those families that want to participate.
