Our Story

Where Baby Bear Hugs Began

Baby Bear Hugs started with a simple belief: every parent deserves support, and every child deserves a strong beginning.
In rural Eastern Colorado, families often have limited access to early childhood services, must travel long distances for support, and can feel isolated. Community members saw this need and created Baby Bear Hugs to help bridge the gap.

Why We’re Here

The first years of life shape everything that follows. This is a time when parents need encouragement, guidance, and connection most.
Baby Bear Hugs was built to offer:

  • Home-visiting support at no-cost

  • Parenting education

  • Early learning activities

  • Connections to community resources

  • A caring, trusted presence families can rely on

There is no charge for our services and they are available to all expectant parents and families with children ages 0–5.

How We Support Families

We meet families in settings that feel right to them, whether at home or in a familiar community space. Through a relationship-based, strengths-focused approach, we support parents with confidence, connection, and care during their child’s earliest days.

A Program Rooted in Community

Baby Bear Hugs was created by locals, for locals. Our team lives in the same communities we serve, understands the rhythm of rural life, and believes in the power of strong families to shape strong towns.

We’ve grown over the years, but our heart remains the same:
support families, uplift parents, and help every child start strong.

A young child is using a flower to paint on a white sheet with red, yellow, and black paint. There are paper plates with colorful paint and flowers around.
A young girl with a pacifier in her mouth, sitting on the floor, looking up at the camera. She is at a living room table with a woman and another adult nearby. The table has toys, books, and art supplies. The girl looks curious and is reaching for something on the table.

Looking Ahead

As our region grows and changes, we’re committed to growing with it. Expanding support, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to be a trusted resource for families during life’s earliest and most important years.

You’re Part of Our Story
